Darkroom uses the drive X: as the reference drive. All data files used in Darkroom have an address that starts with X:. The X: drive does not exist in the same sense as your C: drive or your D:
drive. It is in reality a shortcut to the folder where all of your Darkroom image, configuration, and settings files are located. This article explains how to change the drive letter from X: to a different letter. This may be required because there is already another driver utilizing the letter X.

First, make sure Darkroom is closed. You will need to add a new string value named Drive and set its data to the drive letter that you prefer. For example, if you want to set the drive letter to P:, follow these steps:
1. Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
2. Expand SOFTWARE.
3. Expand Express Digital.
4. Expand EventLib.
5. Expand 8.0.
6. Click the ProFileServer subkey.
7. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click STRING Value.
8. Type DRIVE and then press ENTER.
9. Right-click the DRIVE string value, and then click Modify.
10. Type the letter of the drive then a colon, and then click OK.
Reopen the software and the drive letter should be changed.
Note: in a networked environment with Pro as a server and Core client stations all computers need to have the same drive letter for proper function.
